This was given as a Christmas gift. My sister found it easy to use. It was bought because of the reviews.

I ordered this for my mother. I’m not sure if she has actually used it or not but I do see the benefits of it. Although it may work well, it’s not what I would call “gift material”. I say this because it appears to be made of somewhat unfinished wood. I understand that you probably wouldn’t want to be moving food on and off a stained board but the lackluster makes for an awkward gift especially for someone who hase nearly EVERYTHING imaginable in his/her kitchen.

This is a fabulous peel. It’s one of those things you don’t think you need until you try it, then you wonder how you got along without it. The quality is excellent. The EXO company cdn’t have been nicer or more accommodating when I had a question about the peel. Recommended highly, both EXO & the peel itself.

I am an active home baker. Baking 2+ times on average a week. On many occasions while entertaining guests I’ll have prepared a pizza on a peel and as I get ready to slide it into the oven some where in the middle moisture has wicked through and caused the dough to stick to the peel. What ensues is a fight with a spatchula attempting to free the peel of the stick all while being blasted by a 550+ deg oven and stone. If you can relate to this in anyway this peel is a must own. The super peel has totally changed the way I think about loading my oven. The precision and ease it allows is amazing. This is not the only peel I own, but for loading it’s the first tool I turn to especially for very delicate breads or pizza.

This pizza peel works absolutely great!!! But it didn’t at first…..
The board arrives in a fairly rough, unsanded/unpolished condition. As it was, it was actually VERY difficult to slide the conveyor belt back and forth when a pizza was on it, even with a lot of flour underneath the belt. It was no-where near as easy looking as the videos online make it seem to be,
But, in the packaging was a note that mentioned you could sand and polish the wood to make it look better, and I assume work better too. So I took some rough emery cloth and really sanded down the slot in the wood to a smooth finish, then finish sanded the entire board- including the slot and the tip, and to top it off I polished the entire thing with a polishing wheel and some wood rouge. After I got the entire board about as smooth and shiny as I could for soft pine, I tried the peel again with a pizza this evening…. and oh baby, it was easy and smooth as could be! Absolutely night and day difference from before sanding and polishing it.
This is totally worth the $50, so if you’re on the fence don’t even think about buying a $20 traditional one. But definitely sand and polish it down yourself, especially at the tip and the slot, if you want to see the full potential of it. I’d rate it 5 stars all the way if it came finished better from the factory…. but who knows maybe they’ve improved their finish now so either way give it a shot!
