Keep in mind - you are buying a piece a clay! I had another "stone" that cracked after only a few uses. It cost much more.

I doubt any "stone" is immune from this. My previous "stone" cracked in the oven after being brought up to temperature very slowly. In short - I treated it kindly.

I bought this "stone" solely because it was cheap and recommend it because on the first three uses - it didn't crack. Better than the other one.

I doubt there is any technology that will make these CLAY "stones" consistently reliable - it is a toss of the dice. Some will last - others won't - even if they are all from the same manufacturer.

My suggestion is to buy cheap and this one is cheap (and includes free shipping).

You are buying a piece a clay and not a piece of stone as the name implies. The word "stone" is quite misleading.

We ordered two of these stones despite the lack of reviews for the specific item. Based on decent reviews for other Foxrun stones, we took a chance. Both stones arrived damaged, one more than the other. One had a chip about 1 inch by one inch out of one of the corners. The other had much more minor chipping on one corner, but still disappointing considering these were brand new. The packaging is horribly inadequate, but upon close inspection, the stones seem very fragile so the packaging is not entirely to blame. FYI, they are less than one-half inch thick (7/16 to be exact). I would not order again.

I am extremely happy with this product. I have been looking for a rectangular pizza stone for some time now because the house I recently bought has a very ancient (50+ years old) 21 inch wide stove and the 15" round stones didn't allow me to pull the rack out to properly cook the pizza.

I was a little put off by the review that said the corners were chipped. Mine are not perfect either, put that's just the nature of the beast. A very good purchase!
